My Want List

All of you moms out there know that as a mom you see to everyone else's need and wants before your own. Well today I wrote my want list and I want to share it with all of you. But before I get to that I want to tell you about me. The last couple of months I haven't been too happy with myself. I have let myself become overweight and wasn't doing much about it. I wanted to do something but lacked the motivation and the know how. Most of my life I have been athletic and haven't had to diet or exercise outside of my sports that I participated in, and now after I've had 3 kids I've fallen off the wagon. I can't use the excuse "I've tried everything" because the truth is I have never tried to loose wight. Well I'm getting sick of lying to myself. Today I'm embarking on my wants and needs. My work announced that they were doing a Biggest Loser contest and I jumped to the opportunity. I think it will be easier for me if I'm held accountable. And that is why I'm writing this blog, I want to be held accountable with all of you. Today I went to my first weigh in and learned my current weight, body fat percentage, and my BMI. I'm going to be brave and tell you all! My Height 5'11", Weight 225, Body Fat 40%, and BMI 31. I am considered obese! What an eye opener, but I won't be for long. I am officially motivated. Here is picture of me taken in 2001 right before I got married:

And here is a picture of me today, January 27, 2009:

This is What I Want:

I want to.....
wear a size 12-14 again
weigh less than 180
not feel my stomach when I sit
have more confidence in myself
run a mile
have the confidence to do "you know what" with the lights on
feel sexy again
be an example to my kids
not lie to myself anymore
exercise everyday
eat less and more healthy
inspire others
wear cute clothes
I want AJ to be proud of me for accomplishing my goals
I want TO BE PROUD OF MYSELF!
I want to cross off everything on this list

The other day when I was watching the Biggest Loser on TV, I was so proud of myself for eating an apple instead of making me a bowl of ice cream with my kids. Sounds silly but I was really proud of myself. This is my game plan - to ask myself if I will be proud of myself if I eat that, and exercise at least once a day if not two times daily. Thanks for reading and please help me to be accountable for this goal I have set for myself. And if anyone would like to jump on this wagon with me, let's do it together. Write down your Want list and read it everyday.
Love you all for your support! I'll keep everyone updated on my progress.

Hi Ali
You will be a leader to us all! I have faith in you and am proud of you for wanting to live a healthier and happier life. I know you will be successful. A word of advise. Just keep moving! When your talking on the phone walk in place. Go up and down the stairs when you walk by them. Play hide and seek with the kids. Chase AJ down the hall. Just keep moving! It's worked for me. Even at the office I make extra trips to the copy machine just to get up and move.
You can do it! Even if you don't lose one pound I think your beautiful.
I love you and give hugs and kisses to the boys and AJ

Cross off the one that said you want to motivate other people. Crap, I feel whipped into shape!!! I want to go running with you!! Please please. I saw you the other morning running Arel at the park. I was going to honk but decided I'd just scare you. I LOVE the post and think you're amazing. I'm on board. FYI: have you heard of the Nike Plus??? I got one when I really started running last summer and I loved it. It really kept my going. It just is software for your ipod but great for running or walking. Just a thought. Love ya

For whatever it's worth...I think you are beautiful in both pics...inside and out. Thanks for sharing. I keep trying and giving up and then blaming it on stress. Sometimes I resolve myself to being a cute, chubby person...anyways, thanks for the motivation :-))
